Outdoor Furniture Cover Size Guide

Handmade outdoor furniture covers. 5-year guarantee. Free shipping.

Every URBAN TAILOR.® cover comes in standard sizes, cut and stitched by hand in our own atelier. Because we do not make custom covers, choosing the right standard size is the most important step. This guide shows you how to measure your outdoor furniture and which cover fits which set.

How to measure outdoor furniture for a cover

Measure the furniture exactly as you will cover it: chairs pushed under the table, cushions on or off, lounge modules in their usual position. Then take three measurements at the widest points.

  1. Length: the longest side of the set, from the outermost edge to the outermost edge.
  2. Width: the widest side, measured at right angles to the length.
  3. Height: from the ground to the highest point (usually the back of a chair or sofa).

Add 5 to 10 cm of room on the length and width. That extra space lets air circulate under the cover and makes it easy to pull on and off. The cover does not need to reach the ground: a gap of a few centimetres at the bottom improves ventilation and prevents condensation.

Which size do I need?

Take the cover whose length and width are 5 to 10 cm larger than your furniture. If your set falls between two sizes, choose the larger one. A slightly roomy cover protects better than a tight one, because rain runs off freely and nothing pulls on the seams.

Parasol covers

Two heights, 60 cm wide: H250 cm and H290 cm, for cantilever and centre-pole parasols. The zip runs three quarters of the length, so the cover slides over the closed canopy easily. View parasol covers.

Frequently asked questions about sizing

Should the cover be tight or loose?

Slightly loose. Leave 5 to 10 cm of room on each side so air can circulate and the fabric is never under tension.

What if my furniture is between two sizes?

Choose the larger size. A roomier cover is easier to put on and air circulates better underneath.

Do I measure with or without cushions?

Measure the way you store the set. If the cushions stay on the furniture under the cover, measure with cushions.
